Friends of ASTOR!

We are asking for your help in making Astor School’s auction on Saturday, March 9, 2019, at The University of Portland a success. Please consider supporting the school by donating an item for our auction.

As a K-8 Portland Public School, resources are often constrained. We have nearly 450 incredible students who attend our school and live in our community. Just under half of our population qualifies for free or reduced lunches (a proxy measure for poverty). This year, the district increased the threshold to receive Title One funding, which means that we can no longer rely on incremental, yet much needed funds. Our administration, teachers, and families are committed to our students, but we cannot meet their needs alone.  

We truly need your help as a community business leader to make our biggest fundraiser of the year a success. Your donation will provide critical funds that help prepare our students to reach their full potential. In return, your business will receive exposure in the event program and increased goodwill from the more than 200 event attendees who work, live, and shop in our community.

This year, we have set an ambitious goal of $40,000 for the auction. The funds will primarily support:

• Upgrades to the audio/visual equipment for the auditorium allowing us to host school and community assemblies, music performances, drama productions, and more.

• Underwriting and expansion of our extra-curricular offerings in order to enrich our students’ educational and personal pursuits, as well as directing youth energy toward positive and fulfilling outcomes.
• Supplemental funding for grade-level field trips, increasing opportunities for all students.

• Support for our newly formed Astor Race & Equity group, including the middle school diversity club.

All donations are tax deductible. Suggested donation items include business gift certificates, event/activity tickets and passes, gifted products or services, and the like. We encourage you to be creative!
